First off, the feat Boon Companion will raise an Animal Companion up to four levels (up to a maximum of your character level), so you’ll probably want to take that. Second, the two most recommended choices are a smilodon (5 attacks and pounce) or a leopard (3 attacks, trip attempt on a bite, and the highest of any animal companion).Mostly because I tried kingmaker 3 times, once with a fighter (messed up feat stuff and such), second time with a paladin barbarian ( I got bored really quick), and my third playthrough I saw the sorcerer could get a pet, and then I wanted a full leopard team and steam roll everything.Second, the weapons that companions use are kinda non existent.
